Policy on social contribution activities

The Meiwa Group’s corporate philosophy calls for it to contribute broadly to society through its businesses. In addition to conducting business activities conscious of our economic roles and social significance, we will actively promote social contribution activities as a company in three priority areas: contributing to local communities, supporting the development of the next generation of human resources, and social welfare, while helping to realize a better society.

1. Contributing to local communities

   We will undertake activities that contribute to the sound development of the local communities in which we do business.

2. Supporting the development of the next generation of human resources

   We will undertake educational support activities, cultural and artistic support activities, and activities to promote international exchange with the goal of developing the human resources of the future.

3. Social welfare

   In addition to fundraising activities and support for disaster response, we will undertake a wide range of activities to support impoverished communities and environmental improvements.

We will remain committed to meeting the expectations of stakeholders and contributing to social value and sustainability, not merely focusing on the pursuit of profit.

Sponsoring Kokoro no Gekijo (Theater of the Heart), an invitational performance for children

As part of our social contribution activities, we support Theater of the Heart, a series of performances sponsored by the General Incorporated Association Butaigeijutsu Center and the Shiki Theatre Company. This year, we supported performances in Tokyo.
By inviting children from around the country, school by school, at no charge, to attend the Shiki Theatre Company Family Musical, this program teaches children about caring for others, the joy of believing in each other, and the significance of life itself. This year, some 450,000 children will attend the 370 performances presented in around 135 cities across Japan.

To demonstrate the significance of our sponsorship of Theater of the Heart and the importance of these activities, we invite employees and their families to attend, free of charge, the Shiki Theatre Company Family Musical. The following are remarks by past participants: “It gave us the opportunity to experience the power and presence of the live stage”; “Now I have a better understanding of the activities supported by the Company.”
We will continue striving to enrich the hearts of children and the generations to come by creating opportunities for cultural experiences for employees and their families through our support for various artistic and cultural activities.

Sponsoring Paralym Art

As a Gold Partner, we sponsor the Paralym Art project operated by the Shougaisha Jiritsu Suishin Kikou Association, which promotes social involvement and economic autonomy among artists with disabilities by creating opportunities to advertise and promote use of their works of art. We support this project as part of our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to contribute to building a society of diverse, thriving individuals and talents.

Participating in the Campaign to Deliver Picture Books volunteer activity

We participate in the Campaign to Deliver Picture Books, a project sponsored by the Public Service Corporation Shanti Volunteer Association.
This international cooperation program delivers picture books translated into local languages to children in Asia who might otherwise lack access to books. The picture books are intended to inspire curiosity and imagination and to nurture the capacity of these children to carve out their own future.
Participating volunteer employees affix translation stickers to the books, which when completed are then delivered to children in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and refugee camps along the Thai border to support children’s education. By participating in these and other social contribution activities, we will continue creating learning opportunities for children and contribute to a sustainable society.

Family Day (Company visit)

With the goals of establishing vibrant workplaces and providing opportunities for children to come into contact with society and work, we held a Family Day on which the children of our employees visited their parents’ workplaces.
Family Day activities included an introduction to the Company and its work; opportunities for children to make their own business cards and participate in a stamp rally; and an exchange of business cards between the President and the children, with the goal of helping children understand the work environment in a festive setting. These events were followed by a communal lunch attended by all and a commemorative photo session as additional opportunities to deepen ties between employees and their children.
The day created treasured memories of smiles of the children who attended and of the interactions that strengthen family ties among our employees. Based on a sustained regard for our employees and their families, we’re committed to maintaining these and other efforts to build comfortable, vibrant workplaces.

Holding lifesaving courses

We hold standard lifesaving courses for all employees to help realize safer workplaces and to contribute to local communities.
These courses confer basic knowledge and skills, including administering CPR, using an automated external defibrillator (AED), and providing first aid to develop a human resource corps prepared to respond effectively in the event of emergencies. We have installed automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at our head office and at branches to keep our employees and visitors safe.
We will continue conducting these activities to improve lifesaving knowledge and first aid skills based on our commitment to building safer and more secure workplaces and contributing to local communities.

Donation to the Central Community Chest of Japan (Red Feather)

We make donations through the Tokyo Community Chest Association to support the commitment to assist social welfare programs that promote the community and provide support for victims of frequent natural disasters.
